Y-Bearings

Y-bearing units is the term used by the manufacturer SKF to describe ball bearing units filled with lubricating grease and ready to install.
These comprise

• Y-bearing – a deep groove ball bearing, the outer race surface of which is convex shaped and
• the Y-bearing housing, the concave seat bore of which corresponds to the insert.

Y-bearing units are supplied as 

• Y-bearing plummer block units
• Y-bearing flanged units and
• Y-bearing take-up units.

Y-bearing units are attached to the shaft by means of grub screws, eccentric collars or adapter sleeves.

Y-bearing units made from SKF correspond in design and functionality to ball bearing units made by Japanese manufacturers.
These days, no relevant differences in quality can be established either.
There are differences in pricing and in the designations, however.
