Spherical roller bearing
Spherical roller bearings have rolling elements with a barrel-shaped cross-section. This makes it easier to compensate for misalignment. Spherical roller bearings are the first choice for particularly rough operation, shock loads and the highest radial and axial forces (e.g. conveyor technology, quarries, cement works, vibrating screens, ship drives, wind turbines, etc.).
Spherical roller bearings are available with a cylindrical or tapered bore
Modern designs have larger swivel castors by dispensing with the center board. This increases the load rating. However, this design places higher demands on reliable lubrication of the bearings between the inner ring, outer ring and rolling elements. The service life can be significantly increased by using high-purity, vacuum-degassed rolling bearing steel.Spherical roller bearings are also available in two parts for easier mounting. Spherical roller bearings are often found in combination with split cast housings (pedestal bearings, flange bearings) as ready-to-install bearing units.
Toroidal roller bearings or CARB bearings
(Copact Aligning Roller Bearing) from the Swedish manufacturer SKF are a
special type of spherical roller bearing. They can be used to
compensate for larger shaft misalignments, deflections or longitudinal
expansion.
Spherical roller bearings are available in various designs
for different applications. For example, there are bearings with
cylindrical or tapered bores. The standard bearings are open or sealed
bearings and are often also available as energy-efficient spherical
roller bearings. This type of bearing is used in vibration machines,
printing machines and generally under extreme operating conditions such
as heat. This is why quality advice is particularly important for
spherical roller bearings.
Spherical roller thrust bearings are a special design. Axial spherical roller bearings are particularly suitable for high speeds and good load distribution. These bearings are robust against misalignment from shaft to housing and can also be angularly adjusted. The number of asymmetrical rollers is very high and special raceways are used. Typical manufacturers are FAG / Schaeffler or SKF.
The optimum combination of spherical roller bearing design, lubrication and sealing is a particular strength of the specialists at NBR. In other words: the optimum bearing in terms of price, performance and service life for the customer's specific application.
